Dylan Farrow Asks: Why Has Woody Allen Been Spared By #MeToo?

"Allen's latest feature, Wonder Wheel, was released theatrically on December 1".

"Woody Allen is an incredible director", she said.

Hollywood is in the middle of the movement, and while it continues to topple powerful men, at least one has thus far proved immune: Woody Allen.

"I have long maintained that when I was 7 years old, Woody Allen led me into an attic, away from the babysitters who had been instructed never to leave me alone with him".

Ultimately, Dylan wants everyone to be aware that while the "system" worked for Harvey Weinstein and other men for decades but eventually crashed, it's still working for Allen today - he's even now shooting a new film with no disruptions, and has said in the past that he's "moved so far past" the allegations made against him.

In the L.A. Times piece, Farrow wrote that her story "is not a "he said, child said" situation" and called out Winslet, Blake Lively, and Lady Bird director Greta Gerwig, who have all previously worked with Allen, for not directly addressing the accusations against the director in recent interviews.

"Dylan Farrow's allegations against Woody Allen, which she first made 25 years ago, have been thoroughly examined by law enforcement officials and child welfare investigators. I had an extraordinary working experience with both of those men, and that's the truth". On working with Allen, Lively said, "It's very risky to factor in things you don't know anything about". In a November interview with Terry Gross on NPR's Fresh Air, Gerwig said in response to a question about Allen: "I think I'm living in that space of fear of being anxious about how I talk about it and what I say. I remember what I was wearing and what I wasn't wearing", Farrow told Vanity Fair's Maureen Orth in 2013. "And I was in that film with Ellen Page, who wrote something very handsome recently and very strong and thoughtful recently".

In 2016, Farrow's brother Ronan, now the author of multiple New Yorker stories on Weinstein and his alleged victims, wrote an essay in The Hollywood Reporter about the alleged incident. She also says that Allen put his thumb in her mouth, climbed into her bed in his underwear, and constantly touched her. Farrow also linked to the 1993 legal document on the matter, in which a judge denied Allen custody of Farrow, and noted how some publications have reported that the allegations were part of a custody dispute, which she says was not initiated until after the investigation into Allen's abuse of Farrow began. "He then sexually assaulted me". Farrow's op-ed contains glowing quotes from all three actresses about working with Allen that are juxtaposed with criticism of Weinstein and others. No charges were ever filed, and the reason is simple: "because Woody Allen is innocent". "Why is it that Harvey Weinstein and other accused celebrities have been cast out by Hollywood, while Allen recently secured a multimillion-dollar distribution deal with Amazon, greenlit by former Amazon Studios executive Roy Price before he was suspended over sexual misconduct allegations?"
