Sango was kidnapped at about 7:00p.m. on Wednesday with his son, a chieftain of the party, Chief Emmanuel Mangni, a driver, an orderly and one other person while travelling to Abuja ahead of the PDP convention.

It was gathered that the former PDP guber aspirant, who left his house in Jos in the afternoon of Wednesday for the party's National convention slated for Saturday, was stopped by his abductors before he was taken away alongside his driver to an unidentified area.

The Publicity Secretary of PDP in Plateau State, John Akans, confirmed the incident in an interview with The PUNCH in Jos on Thursday. Damishi Sango has been kidnapped with five others along Jere village, Kaduna State.

He said, "The kidnappers have contacted the family of Damishi Sango and are demanding for N100 million".

"They used his phone to reach the family", the source said. "I'm on my way to Abuja". We have no communication with the six occupants of the vehicle including the abductors and no ransom has been made.

Party stakeholders from his country home in Riyom such as former federal lawmaker, Simon Mwadkwon, and the state Commissioner for Finance, Mang, have called on the Federal Government to make Nigerian roads safer for travellers with the establishment of security checkpoints at intervals on major highways in the country.

"We have send a team to the State Police headquarters to report the matter. The man has been kidnapped and efforts are on to secure his freedom", he said.
