Addressing a gathering in poll-bound Gujarat's Rajkot, the senior Congress leader said: "Whoever faced corruption allegations during UPA was dealt with strictly, but the same can not be said about BJP". He said "Whoever faced corruption allegations during UPA was dealt with strictly, but the same can not be said about BJP, they have not acted on corruption in their rule,". Addressing reporters in poll-bound Gujarat's Rajkot district, Singh said, "To equal the United Progressive Alliance's 10-year average, the economy will have to grow at 10.6% in the fifth year". "I say with enormous pain and a sense of deep responsibility that November 8 was a black day for our economy and democracy". But the BJP had not acted on those against whom corruption charges had been levelled.

Singh also accused the Centre of taking steps that were not in the best interest of the country, adding that the national security has been hurt by the inconsistent foreign policies of the government. Singh had earlier denied these claims.

The former PM reiterated that Prime Minister Modi never met him to make a representation about the Sardar Sarovar dam on river Narmada when the latter was the chief minister of Gujarat. Manmohan Singh said that Modi never discussed with him regarding Narmada and he also clarified that he never refused to meet Modi as CM.
