Snow squall watch continues for Almaguin, North Bay

A snow squall watch is in effect for a large area, including Listowel, Milverton, northern Perth County, Mount Forest, Arthur and northern Wellington County.

Flurries early this morning will intensify into snow squalls late this morning into early this afternoon. Bursts of blowing snow are expected in the snow squalls.

Further snowfall amounts in the heaviest snow squalls will range from near 5 cm inland to 15 cm near Lake Superior.

UPDATE (3:18 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7): A snow squall warning has ended but a watch continues for Bayfield Inlet - Dunchurch and South River - Burk's Falls and is now in effect for North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River areas, as well.

Highways 400, 69, 17 and 11 are likely to be affected. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Drivers should be prepared to change travel plans.
