The latter will play a decisive game against Spanish champions Real Madrid. Arthur wasn't in the side when the Libertadores got under way.

Mexican sides have never reached the Club World Cup final. In response, Tuzos boss Diego Alonso made a decision to bring centre-forward Franco Jara off at the start of extra time and bring on another centre-back, Robert Herrera, in his place. Gremio won the Copa Libertadores in late November and was playing its first match of the 2017 Club World Cup.

USA defender Omar Gonzalez's quest to win a third title with Pachuca ended with a loss to Gremio in the semifinals of the FIFA Club World Cup. When it was his turn he played in the way everyone knows he can, and now he's out of the side again. "We have good stadiums here, the infrastructure is very good, but we are a small football county so participating in competitions like this, and achieving what we did, will give the whole country a boost".

"We knew that it wasn't going to be an easy game and that we were going to be nervous on our debut". It was the fourth appearance in the tournament for Los Tuzos.

The Brazilians are, on paper, a superior outfit and we expect them to triumph - although opposing a high scoring victory for them makes sense. They were exhausted after a previous 120-minute match (against Wydad).

Chances were at a premium in the first half, as both sides cancelled each other out in a drab affair that even the highly sought-after Luan struggled to set alight. They can be sure we will fight a lot for this title.

"Pachuca is our Club World Cup final", added the Argentinian, who refuses to think ahead to a possible repeat of his duel with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2014, when sparks flew. The pacy Brazilian wide man surged down the left flank time and time again, causing the Pachuca defence, which had been compact up to then, to lose shape.

"We were too anxious, making too many passing mistakes", Everton said. As another smile broke across his face, he added: "Every player wants to take on the winners of the UEFA Champions League, don't they?"
