Nana Patole, who recently resigned from Lok Sabha and the BJP, shared stage with Congress President-elect Rahul Gandhi on Monday at an election rally in Gandhinagar and fulminated against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming he "abused" senior MPs who had once gone to meet him.

Talking about his priority after taking charge as Congress president on December 16, he said he would work for strengthening party's organisation and like to change the discourse of nation's politics.

"It is for the first time in an election that Modiji has not spoken about corruption, about farmers".

Rahul Gandhi, who has been elected the president of the Congress party, was accorded a grand welcome at his Tughlaq Lane residence here by the party workers this evening. We have been able to make a vision for the people of the state.

"The list is long", tweeted Gandhi, while referring to the alleged scams related to the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, power companies, the metro project and Jay Shah, the son of BJP president Amit Shah. "It is about the people of Gujarat", he said. It is natural for every Gujarati to feel hurt. "We will never take any decision unilaterally in Gujarat but listen to the people", he claimed. "I am devoting my life for the betterment of crores of people of Gujarat and India. I am actually little surprised, I had expected BJP to fight with more strength", he said further. They welcomed the president-elect of the party with flowers amid the beating of drums. The prime minister's assertions came on the day Patidar leader Hardik Patel held a well-attended roadshow in Ahmedabad despite the police not giving permission for the event. We expelled Mani Shankar Aiyar. You have seen the action. "Manmohan Singhji was also the prime minister of this country, served and made sacrifices for this country".

Rahul Gandhi's roadshow was planned through the old city while Prime Minister Modi's route was through the newer parts of Ahmedabad, across the river.
