Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence is attached to star and produce 19th century true-crime drama Burial Rites, which is being directed Luca Guadagnino, who is a frontrunner in current Oscar race with his romance-drama Call Me By Your Name. I can not wait for him to bring his original voice to the raw, visceral brutality, and poetry of Hannah Kent's haunting true story of Agnes Magnúsdóttir, the last woman to be publicly executed in Iceland for the murder of two men. She was executed for killing two men and setting their home on fire. He's also directing the upcoming Suspiria remake.

Variety said "Burial Rites" will draw on Hannah Kent's 2013 novel of that name, taking place as "Agnes awaits confirmation of her death sentence by the high court, a period of time that finds her reluctantly forging emotional and romantic bonds, while reflecting on her supposed crimes".

OK, so, probably not the feel-good movie of whatever year in which it arrives, but with Guadagnino at the helm and Lawrence in front of the camera, this is certainly one worth paying attention to.

Jennifer Lawrence has lined up her next project - and it's a killer.

Also on the docket for Lawrence are Adam McKay drama Bad Blood, spy thriller Red Sparrow - from Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence - and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, for which she'll reprise her role as shape-shifting blue mutant Mystique.
