'Urduja' continues northwest track, signal no.1 raised in Eastern Samar

Urduja has a speed of just 7 kilometers per hour.

Urduja was estimated at 395 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar as of 4 p.m. today.

It still hovers over the Pacific Ocean, from where the cyclone draws its strength from.

PAGASA warned that Urduja could still strengthen into a tropical storm within the next 36 hours.

According to reports, Bagyong Urduja is located at 415 km East Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur on Wednesday.

It may also cross Southern Luzon by the weekend on its way to the West Philippine Sea, he said.

Scattered to widespread rainshowers and thunderstorms, however, are expected over Bicol and Visayas within 24 hours.

There are no areas under tropical cyclone warning signals yet, but Urduja will bring moderate to heavy rain within its 350-kilometer diameter.

Fisherfolks and those with small sea crafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and of Caraga due to moderate to rough seas associated with the approaching Tropical Depression.

As of 3 a.m. Wednesday, Urduja was expected to make landfall in Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

By Saturday morning, it is expected to be 20 kms. east of Masbate City, Masbate and by Sunday morning in the vicinity of Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro.
