On Friday, amid the United States release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Billie Lourd shared a touching photo of her and late mother Carrie Fisher from the 2015 premiere of The Force Awakens. An Instagram post in October 2017 showed Gary looking equally compelled by The Last Jedi trailer. "Just watched the new trailer of The Last Jedi and my mom looks more attractive than ever", the dog's Instagram account posted. She makes her final appearance as Leia in "The Last Jedi".

The world lost an icon previous year when Carrie Fisher tragically passed away at the age of 60.

Carrie appears in the flick as the Resistance general in scenes filmed prior to her passing, and Mark has praised her performance as "great", as he revealed the late actress was "adorable" and "vulnerable" off-screen.

While she had the pup on her lap, she admitted to ABC reporter Veronica Miracle that the dog "perked up" when he saw Fisher on the big screen.

The beloved late actress was well known for her close and loving relationship with Gary, who was originally her therapy dog. If you follow the green arrow in the photo, you can see Gary with a mask and multiple eyes, being held by a character. "She gives a really handsome performance in this movie, and we finished shooting when she passed", said director Rian Johnson.

Gary was apparently such a staple on the set of The Last Jedi that director Rian Johnson even gave the French Bulldog a cameo in the film as a pet alien.
