Indian Railways to focus more on women, children safety in 2018

Goyal's remarks came days after the Railway Board formed a six-member committee to review the flexi-fare scheme.

The various subjects discussed in the conference included- Transforming IR through Safety & Punctuality - Structural process & cultural reforms, Transforming IR through Passenger Comfort & Aesthetics- Structural processes & cultural reforms, Strategies for increasing carrying capacity & speed of trains, Introducing dynamic pricing- Premium & Discount, Increasing freight modal share, Streamlining procurement to reduce time & cost and Boosting morale & happiness of employees.

Speaking after a day-long conclave of senior officials in the capital, he said that the national transporter is studying a model of dynamic pricing which is offered by the airlines and hotels.

The flexi-fare system, launched in September 2016, led to up to 50 per cent increase in fares.

It is not clear if railways will construct those toilets or allow state agencies to build them but the policy to allow toilets is now there, officials said.

"In the airlines, we see the maintenance of an aircraft is completed within 30 minutes and it is prepared for another journey".

"It is a saying that one should be able to sweat one's assets. The ministry is consulting all the people who are involved in the electrification process", Goyal had said. We are exploring this possibility. "In the same vein, it should reach Mumbai by 7 instead of 6 in the morning, allowing people to sleep for an additional hour", Goyal added.
