Former Premier League victor James Wade is out of the World Darts Championships after a 3-2 defeat to Keegan Brown.

Brown, 25, of Newport, beat the 11th seed 3-2 in his first round match at Alexandra Palace.

Brown will face Zoran Lerchbacher in the second round.

Former world junior champion Brown won the third with the throw but saw his second dart knock his first off the board in the opening leg of the deciding set. "I've played well in the last six months to get here and I just thought I deserve it". 'I relaxed and got the job done.

Wade was not the only seed to fall during an eventful evening session - eighth seed Dave Chisnall was blown away 3-0 by fast-throwing Dutchman Vincent van der Voort.

Van der Voort was ready to retire past year due to a back injury, but the Dutchman will take on Steve Beaton following a ruthless display as the exodus of seeds continued in the evening session.

Earlier in the day Australia's Kyle Anderson beat England's Peter Jacques 3-1, Alan Norris overcame Finland's Kim Viljanen 3-0 and Jamie Lewis won an all-Welsh encounter with Jonny Clayton by the same margin.
