Celebrity chef Mario Batali, who was accused of sexual misconduct by four women on Monday, served up an apology for his actions with a side of cinnamon rolls. My behaviour was wrong and there are no excuses. "Without the support of all of you- my fans-I would never have a forum in which to expound on this".

Many feel the apology should have stopped there.

Batali remains a co-owner of his restaurant management company but says he will step away from it for a period of time as he works to regain the "respect and trust" of his business partners, employees and fans.

The clincher then came in the form of a postscript that read, "in case you're searching for a holiday-inspired breakfast, these Pizza Dough Cinnamon Rolls are a fan favorite". But for some inexplicable reason Batali continued by adding recipe to his apology.

Batali has stepped back from the day-to-day operation of his culinary empire, which includes dozens of restaurants.

He has also been kicked off ABC'S "The Chew", while his products will be dropped by major retailers including Wal-Mart and Target.

"Upon completing its review into the allegations made against Mario Batali, ABC has terminated its relationship with him and he will no longer appear on 'The Chew, '" the network said.

Summer Garden Foods, the company that produces products with Batali's name on them, announced that they too would be distancing themselves from the disgraced chef.

In the emailed statement, Batali acknowledged his "past behavior".

"We are proud of the products we have created that carry Mr. Batali's brand".

Batali's reputation as a master of Italian food turned him into a restaurant executive, television star, author and one of the world's most recognizable chefs. The Food Network had planned to relaunch his show "Molto Mario" next year, but said Monday it would be put on hold. We will be focused on identifying and working with an organization that empowers and advances women and hope to have more information about that soon.
