NBC Pledges to Air NFL Anthem Protests During Super Bowl LII

"If there are players who chose to kneel, they will be shown live", executive producer Fred Gaudelli told the annual gathering of the Television Critics Association earlier this week.

Pity poor Roger Goodell, he has received a crash course in racial grievance politics and the liberal media's exploitation of the divisive national anthem protests.

The $5 million price tag is roughly in line with Fox's haul per advertisement during last year's championship game, and significantly higher than the $4.5 million per 30-second spot that advertisers paid when NBC last aired the Super Bowl in 2015. But they still let advertisers reach tens of millions of viewers at once, and networks compete fiercely for the rights to big games. If the Steelers make the Super Bowl, the "This Is Us" promos write themselves. "The game itself nearly transcends the season".

With about four weeks to go before the game, tickets will cost you well over $3,000 just to get in the door-and that's just for the cheapest tickets.

The game's massive audience number stands out even more in contrast to overall ratings for live TV viewing, which have steadily declined as more people watch scripted shows through online and on-demand platforms.

At one point in the National Football League season, player protests against racial inequality and President Trump's attacks on them overshadowed the games themselves.

"There just aren't a lot of places you can find big ratings in a live environment, so advertisers do clamor to those types of opportunities", Lovinger said. "I was a Raiders and Ravens fan, and I'm telling you, it destroyed my soul when I watched the Super Bowl a year ago". The Olympic Winter Games will be held from February 9-25 in Pyeongchang, South Korea. But the viewers watching NBC's telecasts on streaming devices will be figured into advertising deals as well, as the network has seen rapid growth of online viewing in recent Olympics.
