A tractor-trailer slammed into a MA state police cruiser this morning on the Pike in Framingham, sending it flying over a guardrail and into the woods, a state police spokesman said.

The trooper was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester and was reportedly conscious and alert during transportation.

The operator of the tractor-trailer, which is registered in IN, was unharmed.

The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. on the westbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike in Framingham at the Edgell Road tank snow gate, according to officials.

The trooper nor the truck driver have been identified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by State Police Troop E and the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, Procopio said.
