Bournemouth add to Arsenal woes with a surprise win

Jamie Rednapp heavily criticised Granit Xhaka for his poor defending during Arsenal's 2-1 Premier League loss to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

After an intense first half in which both sides gave nothing away it was the visitors who looked the more threatening.

Missing from the squad altogether is forward Alexis Sanchez, who did not traveled with Arsenal for the game.

Callum Wilson nicked in ahead of Petr Cech to score the equaliser in the 70th minute and four minutes later the stirker turned provider to set up Jordon Ibe for the victor.

First Petr Cech was unable to cut out Fraser's teasing cross with Wilson converting before Ibe smashed home after Wilson did brilliantly to tee him up.

An Arsenal defence including Mustafi, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers did well against Chelsea in midweek but they always had the potential to look shaky and they did at times against Bournemouth. Bellerin ran onto an excellently weighted pass from Alex Iwobi to steer the ball into the Bournemouth net.

A remarkable second-half comeback from relegation-threatened Bournemouth on Sunday saw the Cherries edge Arsenal 2-1 to register their first-ever victory over the North Londoners in a game that was fraught with controversy before it even started.

Fraser whipped a lovely ball into the area, and Wilson stole in ahead of two Arsenal defenders and Cech who came racing out of his goal as the Bournemouth striker poked the ball home.

"He doesn't, he goes to sleep, it falls to Ibe and it's 2-1".

The Gunners defeat means they are still yet to win in 2018, and have only take maximum points from three out of 12 Premier League fixtures this season.

Arsenal are now winless in five games in all competitions and five points adrift of fourth place in the Premier League table, prompting a disgruntled reaction from Wenger.
