Facebook Aims to Shed Messenger Features

A number of users on the iPhone are reporting that the app is freezing after just a couple of words typed into the chat bubble, but that other apps are working just fine - indicating that it's a bug within the app itself rather than a problem specifically with their devices.

The glitch, which reportedly isn't fixed by closing and reopening, or even reinstalling the app for some users, has been confirmed by Facebook as well.

Messenger is one of the world's most popular apps with over a billion active users. The problem with the keyboard was only seen in the Messenger app, not on other apps on users' devices.

Let us know if you've been experiencing the issue as well, and if anything helped you fix it on your iPhone.

We've reached out to Facebook for comment on whether the bug will be patched soon.

Just a few days after Facebook announced that its 2018 goal was to make Messenger less clunky, now there's an iPhone bug that makes the app nearly unusable for some people. "We are sorry for any inconvenience". The company says it will work on de-cluttering the Messenger app this year.

"Over the last two years, we built a lot of capabilities to find the features that continue to set us apart", Marcus wrote in a post. "That's the impact the Messenger team wants to make at scale, and I'm optimistic we will deliver in 2018".
