Man found dead in flat in Northern Ireland

Detectives investigating the murder of a 53-year-old man in east Belfast believe a taxi driver may have vital information to assist their investigation.

The police and emergency services were called to the flat before 10 am, where the deceased was found with serious injuries to his head and face.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the victim appeared to have sustained a number of injuries to his head and face, however a post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death. They remain in custody this evening.

Two men in their 20s have been arrested in relation to the murder in the east of the city.

"I am appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have information about this crime, to get in touch with the investigation team by calling 101, quoting reference 347 of 20/01/18".
