A "well-placed source" told Page Six that Lauer's wife of almost two decades, Dutch former model Annette Roque, forced him out of the home they shared with their three children.

Matt Lauer has been kicked out of his house in the Hamptons by his wife, Page Six reported.

Lauer and Roque have been living separate lives for a decade, with Roque remaining at the couple's properties on Long Island while Lauer lived in their Park Avenue apartment during the week.

That residence is in the same building as the penthouse where disgraced banker Bernie Madoff lived with his wife Ruth.

But a source close to Lauer, who turned 60 at the end of December, said that since he was sacked, he has been fighting to save his marriage, although Roque "is being very cold".

Lauer's representatives have not yet said if the couples are formally separated, but Roque was seen meeting with divorce lawyers in NY last month. It's been almost two months since disgraced former Today show host Matt Lauer was sacked from his position at NBC after multiple women came forward and accused him of sexual harassment - and he's still feeling the repercussions for his actions.

He released a statement soon after his firing, saying he was "truly sorry". After the initial allegations a number of women came forward with similar allegations.

Roque, a reclusive Dutch-born former model, hasn't yet filed for divorce from her husband of almost two decades, but Page Six said this action is likely to happen soon.

But she eventually withdrew the filing when he offered her a post-nuptial agreement and millions of dollars.
