The Sun report Spurs are monitoring the striker's situation and aim to strike a loan deal.

Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move to sign Kevin Gameiro.

Gameiro's struggles to carve out a regular starting spot for himself with Atletico this season have led to mounting rumours that the Frenchman could be allowed to depart the Spanish capital this month, if a suitable offer is to arrive.

The Spain global is set to miss the midweek Copa del Rey return match against Sevilla while also sitting out the forthcoming La Liga match against Las Palmas.

He went on to notch 12 goals and 5 assists in 31 La Liga outings (21 starts) in his debut campaign with the club, though the announcement of Diego Costa's return to Atletico immediately threw the 13-time capped international's future at the Wanda Metropolitano into doubt.

He has been restricted to just 18 appearances this season, scoring 6 goals in the process, although a good chunk of his appearances this term have been from the bench.

Tests were carried out on the 29-year-old after he was forced off during the clash with Girona, and he has been evaluated to be sidelined for a week and four days.
