Vikings QB Case Keenum not ready to worry about offseason yet

Well, that happened Sunday.

For perspective, consider this: Bradford entered the season the unquestioned starter.

When asked to look back over the year from a personal standpoint, Bridgewater - who returned to the active roster in November but played just one offensive series - said it "was a great year".

Sam Bradford started 15 in 2016.

All three were teammates this season, and all three can become free agents on March 14. The Vikings can use that designation on one impending free agent during a 15-day window starting February 20. "I love this team, I love these guys, love the coaching staff. I don't really know what their whole outlook is on me, just that they know me and like me".

Keenum said he plans to go somewhere warm and let the process play out. Putting the franchise tag on Keenum would seem to be an easy solution to the Vikings' conundrum. Not really much has been said.

Keenum doesn't have a track record of such success beyond 2017, turns 30 next month and will undoubtedly command a somewhat significant amount of money from a quarterback-needy team. But Bradford was injured after only one game, and Keenum took over.

The Vikings also like Keenum, Bradford and Bridgewater for various reasons.

"This year I think my biggest test was my character", Bridgewater said Monday. "So in a ideal world, I would have loved to be dressing, but I understand that decisions are made to give this team the best chance to win", Bridgewater said. I understand that. I'm a pro. "I'm going to be excited for whatever the future holds and whatever quarterbacks are here". Plus, I'm not so sure I believe the Keenum-Shurmur package deal will come to fruition after all. There's no guarantee, even with Keenum's 2017 - 325-of-481 passing, 3,546 yards, 22 touchdowns, seven interceptions - the quarterback is even wanted back in Minnesota, especially after Sunday's disaster.

"I have an inkling that all those guys are going to be starting quarterbacks in this league for someone, and they're going to win a lot of games", Thielen said, "because they're that type of character guys, they're that type of football players, they're guys you want on your team, and they're guys you want to play for".
