"It was a convincing debut".

The home fans got exactly what they wanted, with record signing Aubameyang netting his first goal, while he and Mkhitaryan demonstrated that a season and a half apart has done little to weaken the telepathic bond they seemed to share at Borussia Dortmund.

The Gabon global cooly dinked the ball over Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for the Gunners' fourth of the afternoon, following a brace from Aaron Ramsey and one from Laurent Koscielny.

"Overall, the two players integrated our game well, and they look like they have played with us forever", Wenger told a news conference.

They must have been watching a different game to the rest of us.

"He's not completely fit but of course you see the quality of him - movement, the sharpness, the quality of his finishing". He remained involved in the midfield throughout and confidently swept in to secure his hat-trick.

After recently returning from injury, Aaron Ramsey made his presence felt against Everton.

He also pointed to the three goals in the first 19 minutes being somewhat important. The former Gunners winger looked certain to score until Mustafi intervened with a brilliant block.

Aubameyang faces a late fitness test but is unlikely to be thrown straight into the starting XI.

Nacho Monreal hit the bar from a corner before half-time and saw a shot deflected wide as Arsenal pressed for more goals. After a clever through-ball from Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang lifted the ball over Pickford to make it 4-0 and effectively end the match as a contest.

"The challenge is going to be hard but I think we can finish in front of Leicester and Burnley and that will be a good end to the season".

Everton came close to scoring with Oumar Niasse proddling the ball against the upright.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin came off the bench for Theo Walcott on the hour mark and immediately pulled a goal back, but Ramsey killed off any hopes of a comeback to complete his hat-trick on 74 minutes. Cech has never given Arsenal the presence he offered Chelsea for more than a decade but he remains a far more reliable pair of hands than David Ospina.
