Ball will miss his 14th straight game on Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans but "definitely" expects to return from his left knee injury next Friday against the Dallas Mavericks in Los Angeles' first game back from the All-Star break.

Sacramento Kings rookie point guard De'Aaron Fox has been selected as Lonzo Ball's replacement for Friday night's Rising Stars Game.

LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball are playing for Prienu Vytautas in Lithuania, while Lonzo is in the midst of his rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

"I practiced yesterday, [and] it's at a point where I can play, but it still hurts a little bit", Ball said after the team's shootaround.

"There was never a timeline for it". I thought it was going to be dealt with quicker, but obviously my body didn't react to it that well. Ball could be gradually reintegrated into the rotation, but he's expected to eventually reclaim the starting point guard spot once he's back up to full speed, resulting in fewer minutes to go around for Josh Hart, Isaiah Thomas and Alex Caruso.

Despite the fact that Ball will miss a total of 15 games entering the All-Star weekend, the rookie has had a lot going on in his life.

"If they don't take Gelo this year, I bring Gelo here to play with Melo for two years".
