Roma chief Monchi has spoken of selling Mohamed Salah to Liverpool last summer.

"When I arrived, the Liverpool offer for Salah was 32m euros plus 3m euros in bonuses".

The Egyptian forward scored his 30th goal of the season on Wednesday night as Liverpool hammered Porto 5-0 in the Last 16 of the Champions League, showcasing once again how brilliant he has been for the Reds. In today's football, players go wherever they want to.

"At the end of the day, we could reach €50m with bonuses, but at that moment we had to sell and that was an important option".

He said: "Regrets? At that time we needed it, it was a very important offer, then the numbers of (Kylian) Mbappé and Neymar blew up the market".

"The figures are important, because at the end of the day we are a business, but the fans can not be bought".

His incredible form has left some Roma fans feeling short-changed and, although Monchi admits they could have maybe got more money out of Liverpool, he insists the Italian club had little choice but to sell. "It takes time. We've got to stay quiet and work harder to find the right path towards what the fans want".

The Egyptian global returned to the Premier League in the summer after spending two seasons in Italy with Roma.

"I accept all of that, but ask them for a little faith".

We told them to make a bid and we would have evaluate it, but Chelsea never matched the figure we requested and did not reach an agreement with Dzeko.
