Liverpool talks for €70m Alisson

Liverpool's pursuit of Roma goalkeeper Alisson has been well documented in recent times and it seems they are keen to accelerate their negotiations with the Serie A club.

In eight out of sixteen games this season, Loris Karius has finished the 90 minutes with a clean sheet.

Sky claim that discussions are at a "very early stage" and that Roma value the Brazilian goalkeeper at a showstopping £62 million - a world record for a goalie.

They also say Liverpool made an inquiry into signing the 26-year-old during the January transfer window and the club hope to persuade Roma to sell the player in the coming weeks.

The Reds flexed their financial muscle by forking out £70m for Virgil van Dijk last month.

What the club do know, however, is that a lot of clubs, such as Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, will be needing new goalkeepers in the summer, and Alisson is one of the cheaper ones on the market at the moment. The World Cup in Russian Federation will also complicate things if negotiations drag on until the summer.

Even if Karius continues his impressive form until May, it would be great business for Liverpool to sell Simon Mignolet, bring in Alisson and foster a hugely competitive fight for the no.1 spot next season.
