"We are excited to launch the Amazon Rewards Visa Card in our stores, offering benefits to our customers on all of their purchases at Whole Foods Market", said Whole Foods CEO John Mackey in a release. The payback is not just limited to Prime members, as non-Prime users will also get 3% back on Whole Foods Market purchases.

Amazon cardholders who earn rewards at Whole Foods stores can choose to convert them into a statement credit or can redeem them online to make purchases on Amazon or on other eligible sites.

Amazon acquired Whole Foods past year for $13.7 billion. Amazon also likely saves some money on credit card fees when Whole Foods customers pay with one of its branded cards than with another credit card.

Amazon has made some other moves since the takeover.

Whole Foods customers are reaping the benefits of Amazon's $14 billion acquisition of the organic-food store chain in 2017. Other cards such as American Express Blue Cash Preferred card give as much as 6% cash back for grocery purchases, but it comes attached with the $95 annual fee.

And earlier this month, Amazon said it will start delivering groceries from Whole Foods via its two-hour Prime Now delivery service.

Amazon has added yet another perk to its $99-per-year Prime membership scheme. The giant of e-commerce also begin selling its Echo devices at Whole Foods locations.

The Amazon-ification of Whole Foods continues. Further, several employees at Whole Foods complained about the retailer crushing their morale with new procedures, according to Business Insider.

Amazon, however, is focused on greater integration between the two companies through groundbreaking technology and offers, such as fast shipping.
