Hawkins, Ind., the hometown of "Stranger Things", is full of speculation and unknowns.

Fans of Netflix hit series "Stranger Things" are shocked when a report suggests that the upcoming season 3 will be the last for the Duffer Brothers, the showrunners and creators of the sci-fi series.

It all started with a report from MovieFone, which claimed that a "source with knowledge of the [show's] production" said Stranger Things Season 3 would be the last one for the Duffer brothers. The streaming service tweeted a shot of Lucas' skeptical sister Erica (Priah Ferguson) along with the caption, "Don't drop your Eggos".

Although the future of the series isn't set in stone, it doesn't seem like the Duffers are planning on going anywhere. They admitted to being courted "a little bit" by other studios but remained loyal to completing the story of Things. "I think we should land it". Allegedly, the Duffer brothers were seeking to do a different feature film project instead. When M. Night Shyamalan read the script, he hired them as writers and producers for the short-lived Fox TV series Wayward Pines. Later on, Netflix officially weighed in to say the Duffers would be keeping it unusual. The show premiered in the summer of 2016 and immediately became a pop culture sensation.
