Netflix has released a trailer and poster for its upcoming original movie The Outsider. Check out The Outsider trailer below, along with the key art in the gallery!

In the film, Leto plays "an American soldier imprisoned in post-war Japan who enters the dark world of the yakuza, adopting their way of life in repayment for his freedom".

Set in Japan during a post-War era when the consequences of the bomb and V-J Day are still substantive, the story centers on Nick Lowell (Jared Leto), a U.S. Army deserter who was captured by the Japanese in a detention that doesn't seem to be affected too much by the end of the war. It is directed by Martin Zandvliet, whose previous film "Land of Mine" world premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2015, where it was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics. Tadanobu Asano (Thor), Kippei Shiina, Shioli Kutsuna, Emile Hirsch (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Bonnie and Clyde), Raymond Nicholson, Rory Cochrane (Argo), Nao Omori, and Min Tanaka star alongside Leto.

The Outsider will be released on Netflix on March 9th. Zandvliet works off a script by Andrew Baldwin, whose Idris Elba-starring feature debut, The Take, arrived in 2017.
