At the launch time, the company promised that Redmi Note 5 Pro will receive an over the air (OTA) update by the end of March which would bring the face unlock feature to the smartphone.

In this case, comparing the Redmi Note 5 Pro with the OnePlus 5T or the Honor View 10 Face Unlock doesn't make much sense, or would be unfair obviously because they are all of different price segment phones.

What does Redmi Note 5 have to offer? Now, it appears that the vendor has delivered on its promise ahead of schedule, as an OTA update has been released for the Redmi Note 5 Pro carrying this functionality. The phone uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, and it is the first phone to use the newly announced Snapdragon chipset.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro is backed by a 4000mah battery and it runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

It is powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC with 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB internal storage. The smartphone, which is launched only recently now runs on Android Nougat OS, however, the device is soon expected to upgrade to Oreo in the days to come.

The Redmi Note 5 features a 5MP front-facing camera along with an LED selfie light and Beautify 3.0 technology.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first Xiaomi smartphone in India to get this Face unlock feature.

In terms of camera capability, the smartphone comes with dual primary camera setup with a 12 MP primary camera and secondary 5 MP depth sensing sensor. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5 Pro costs Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant and Rs 16,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM option.

Some Redmi Note 5 Pro users have already started receiving the new MIUI update, while others may get it in the days to come. While the changelog doesn't mention this, Clinton Jeff adds that it also brings significant camera improvements to the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
