He is the lead singer and one of the founders of 30 Seconds to Mars, a distinguished music video director, and definitely an influential and polarizing actor.

The Outsider is yet another display of Netflix's star-drawing might, serving as an original film for the streaming giant that's headlined by the enigmatic Oscar winning actor, Jared Leto. The film now has steadied and has released its new trailer.

Set in Japan during a post-War era when the consequences of the bomb and V-J Day are still substantive, the story centers on Nick Lowell (Jared Leto), a U.S. Army deserter who was captured by the Japanese in a detention that doesn't seem to be affected too much by the end of the war. The character eventually escapes with the help of his cellmate, a member of the yazuka (the country's organized crime syndicate), leaving him indebted to his mafia pal.

Leto is joined by a strong cast that includes Tadanobu Asano, Emile Hirsch, Kippei Shina, Rory Cochrane, Shioli Kutsuna, and Yurino.

Martin Zandvliet ("Land of Mine") directed the movie with Andrew Baldwin ("The Take") and John Linson (producer, "Lords of Dogtown") writing the script.

The Outsider hits Netflix on March 9.
