The Samsung Galaxy S9 is a minor upgrade to the S8, with no new smartphone features that leap the iPhone or the S8 for that matter. The fingerprint sensor also changed its position a little bit, making it more comfortable for users to reach it without accidentally smudging the camera lens. However, folks at Slashleaks have managed to release the same video through their YouTube channel to help us understand what all be the major developments that are taking place at Samsung's Unpacked 2018 event in Barcelona. This is one aspect which Samsung's teasers are also highlighting, so there is considerable hype around what the new S series will offer in this department. Samsung is rumoured to launch similar but slightly different 3D emoji in the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

An alleged official S9 video leaks a day before the official reveal.

The new handsets are shown along with the "The Phone". With the location of the scanner being one of the rare complaints consumers had about the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, as well as the Galaxy Note 8, it appears Samsung made a decision to reposition it in order to make it easier to reach and attempt addressing those concerns. The worldwide variant of the phones will be powered by the Exynos 9810 processor, while the United States variant will have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It also seems the Galaxy S9 will have a focus on the camera, most notably by the tagline of the camera being 'Reimagined.' Unfortunately, no details on specs. Even so, they will be quite powerful and fast.

With that in mind, the company says players like Huawei and Xiaomi (the latter of which isn't made available in Australia) made some big strides in the back half of the year, though the number one player that is Samsung could easily claw that top spot very, very shortly.

The launch video also shows an improved DeX dock that allows users to plug their phones to a display or a TV and turn it into an Android-powered desktop.
