Season two finalist and CT resident Kimberley Locke gives us a whole recap.

Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie all appeared in the first episode of "American Idol" reboot on Sunday.

The first audition stop is New York City, where the first contestant is a 17-year-old with a guitar and a whole lot of personality. There were more than enough doubters and critics in television land ready to say that it had only been two years since wrapping Season 15 of "American Idol", including a grateful send-off from then-President Barack Obama.

The rest of the night ambles along at a familiar pace, as we're mostly introduced to decent singers like bespectacled goofball Catie Turner from Langhorne, Pennsylvania, who refers to the boom mic above her as a "corn cob" and laments, "What if Katy Perry thinks I'm odd?"

The real test for "Idol" will be on Monday's when it goes up against NBC's The Voice.

The judges also give three yeses - along with some cautionary advice - to 16-year-old Kentucky cutie Layla Spring, who brings her 7-year-old sister along to the audition. It's no secret millions tuned in to the original series to see what type of comedic entertainment in the form of a Hollywood hopeful would grace the judges with an unforgettable moment. And now, with their golden tickets in hand, both Turner and Lorenzo are headed to Hollywood! "I know it wasn't an overnight success for me; it's not going to be for them", she said. He has an emotional backstory, but fails to immediately wow Perry and Richie with his rendition of James Bay's "Let It Go". Now living in Orlando, Sardor informs us that he has "a big range" and can sing "the male part and the female part" of songs.

"Have you kissed a girl and liked it?"

"I really enjoyed meeting you today", Perry said.

"We really encourage them", said Perry. But Richie said that Seacrest is still the anchor that holds the show together. The GRAMMY victor got up from the judge's table and walked over to Francisco to give him a hug.

Gabbii Jones, 20, St. Louis, MO: Her father has given her 30 days to make her dreams of stardom come true, or else she's got to get a job.

Dennis, a 26-year-old singer from Philadelphia, PA, performed "Unaware" by Allen Stone.
