The 20-year-old, who has been relegated to the bench for much of the second half of the season, marked his first league start since Boxing Day with two goals against arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday.

This season, the England global has now scored six times in the league, but he has mostly been used as a substitute.

If he has one or two not good games, he puts him out.

"Tomorrow is a very hard match, playing against a team that didn't lose against Liverpool home or away [in the group stage], that drew in Liverpool and I say Liverpool because they are an example of a very good team in a big stadium with a big tradition".

"Normally he's an English player, you want him given time, he can make mistakes".

The United boss had an acerbic response to hand when he addressed a news conference ahead of Tuesday's Champions League showdown with Sevilla, seemingly holding De Boer responsible for Palace's slump extending to seven winless and scoreless matches as Roy Hodgson picked up the pieces at Selhurst Park.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has slammed former Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer for his comments regarding the Portuguese's handling of England worldwide Marcus Rashford. Mourinho is aware of such history surrounding United and as long as Rashford's performances remain at a high level, he will continue to get opportunities.

"What he was saying was not good for Marcus Rashford to have a coach like me because the most important thing for me is to win".

However, De Boer's brief stint in England - where he guided Palace to four straight top-flight defeats, and no goals, before being sacked after 77 days - gave Mourinho plenty of ammunition to reply.

"If he was coached by Frank he would be coached how to lose because he lost every game".

'I try to give the best to the kid.

'If you go to his numbers and how many games he played with me. "Marcus is having these experiences". He was Mourinho's most used player in 2017, with 61 appearances for United in all competitions. "I'm really happy with Marcus".

"I am really pleased with everything".

"I think that Gareth Southgate doesn't mind that I say a couple of minutes of our conversation were about Marcus", said Mourinho. Of course not but he is a player that we trust.
