"We won 2-1 against Liverpool on Saturday and at the end of the game there were some who said it was a disaster".

United last hosted a Champions League knockout game in 2014 and skipper Carrick says it is high time they competed again for European football's top trophy.

"It's a big comp, it would be the first time in 60 years for us to get through to this stage".

"Liverpool is Liverpool, it is a big match", Mourinho said. "But Sevilla and Brighton are "live or die" games so the next two are much more important than this one".

Sevilla's best chance of advancing to the quarter-finals could be to prey on any nerves there may be at Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho has stated that anything is possible for Manchester United if they advance into the quarter-finals of this season's UEFA Champions League.

The 36-year-old is the longest-serving player at the club, having joined from Tottenham in 2006 and gone on to win the Champions League and five Premier League titles, among many other trophies. Kick-off is at 19:45GMT, but we'll have build up for you before then before team news is out an hour before we get underway at Old Trafford. We're still talking about it, to be honest, so there's nothing totally confirmed as yet. "But it's looking likely, yes", he explained. Paul Pogba is doubtful, and all signs indicate he will be a game-time decision.

Pogba has been in and out of the side of late, for tactical reasons as well as injury problems.

Mourinho-managed teams, too, are hard to beat when they are ahead - a fact highlighted by a prolific Liverpool side's struggles to break down United after the Portuguese set his side up defensively in the second period following Marcus Rashford's two-goal salvo in the first 24 minutes.

"(Pogba) did (train) after you left", Mourinho said.

"It took a little bit of time to get over but there were some times when, for two or three days, I was thinking 'am I going to carry on playing or not?' or 'is it kind of worth it or not?' but that quickly passed".

Mourinho confirmed that Anthony Martial is back in contention after an injury of his own, and that Daley Blind, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones remain absent.
