Investigators say three cars were involved in the crash at USA 50 East at Busch's Frontage Road just before 2 p.m. Sunday.

Anne Arundel County police say an 81-year-old woman was killed after her vehicle was struck by a Ford Taurus.

Maryland resident Laurel Zeiler died after her vehicle collided with the Ford Taurus. The driver and passenger of the Taurus, 27-year-old Christopher Dillehunt and 24-year-old Tammy Lawson of Queenstown are in critical condition at Shock Trauma. The Camry's passenger, Cynthia Whittington of Arnold, is at Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries along with the pickup's occupants, Kathi Ridgley, 29, and Aaron Catterton, 30, of Lothian.

Police say the preliminary cause of the crash was Dillehunt's failure to remain right of center and excessive speed, but they believe heroin use is also a contributing factor.

Anne Arundel County police say the Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and any charges will be after review by the States Attorney.

"We had people that were trapped in their vehicles, so the firefighters had to cut them from the vehicles", said Lt. Jennifer McKee with Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
