Madagascar is straddled in the Indian Ocean and alongside the strategic Mozambique channel. This invaluable inheritance from India also constitutes the fundamental Mauritian spirit and as our island turns towards the future, we are poised to create a still more prosperous, unified and equitable nation, he stated. "We must strive and work together to ensure and achieve this shared objective", President Kovind said.

In the spirit of Lame dan lame, the theme of the 50th anniversary of the Independence of your country, let me reassure you that India will walk hand in hand and in harmony with Mauritius. The economic achievements of this small but vibrant country are laudable. In a view to foster closer people to people ties, all Mauritians of Indian descent became eligible for Indian citizenship under specific provision under the Overseas Citizen of India card scheme since previous year, he said. "His message and struggle did not stop on the sands of Dandi, it reached in full strength to shores of Mauritius as well".

He also launched the World Hindi Secretariat's logo. He also inaugurated Early Digital Learning Programme as well unveiled foundation stones of a social housing project and a large ENT hospital being built with Indian assistance.
