Rajkummar Rao plays a terrorist in Omerta; watch trailer here

The film is set on the life of Omar Saeed Sheikh (played by Rajkummar Rao) who is one of the major culprits in worldwide terrorist outing including the for the murder of Daniel Pearl who was a journalist at the Wall Street Journal in 2002, the Mumbai Terror Attacks, the 9/11 incident in the USA and the infamous 1994 kidnapping of westerners in India. Its trailer was launched here at an event.

Omerta premiered to huge critical appreciation at the Toronto International Film Festival 2017. The trailer documents Omar Saeed's journey from starting off as a fundamentalist to becoming the mastermind behind heinous acts of terrorism.

Director Hansal Mehta added that he wants to leave the viewers with a sense of hate and disgust: "Omerta takes a look at this complex paradox of a man called Omar Saeed Sheikh". It was a hard subject to choose and a challenge to make.

Rajkummar Rao is has made is name for himself for shouldering challenging roles and Omerta is right up on the list as one of the gripping thrillers we have seen him in. But that is the burden of truth - it is uncomfortable and it must be faced. With Omerta and Hansal Sir, we have a combination that will probably leave you stunned. "There will be this moment of shock and silence as the end credits roll", he said.

The gritty trailer of Omerta has surely heightened the expectations of the audience for film's release on April 20, 2018.
