News broke on Wednesday morning that the Arizona Cardinals will be releasing safety Tyrann Mathieu. In 2015, he was named to the Pro Bowl and the NFL All-Pro Team. The Chargers surrendered just 197.3 yards per game through the air in 2017, which ranked third overall in the NFL. "We all wish Tyrann nothing but continued success in his career and beyond".

Mathieu was expected to make $14.1 in 2018 with the Cardinals but instead, they save $4.8 million by releasing the veteran safety. But considering he's only 25, Mathieu is probably looking for a deal in the three-year, $35 million range.

Johnny Manziel can still resurrect his National Football League career, so says Tyrann Mathieu - but he's gotta do one fundamental thing to complete his comeback. After returning to the field in 2014, it was 2015 when the Honey Badger hit his stride.

Per Mathieu on March 8, the Cardinals did ask him to take a pay cut but Mathieu seemed to dismiss that possibility with another cryptic tweet shortly after Keim's comments at the combine.

His rookie season ended prematurely when he tore the LCL and ACL in his left knee. There are ways to make room for a playmaker like this but will the team be willing to make such a bold move with contracts for defensive tackle Geno Atkins and defensive end Carlos Dunlap coming up next offseason?

With his release, the former LSU standout will be free to sign with another team. Last season, he had 78 combined tackles, one sack and two interceptions. The 5-foot-9, 186-pound defensive back has 308 career tackles with four sacks, 41 pass breakups, 11 interceptions and four forced fumbles in five NFL seasons since being selected by the Cardinals in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
