There's no denying that this is pure speculation, but In regards to the Jets rumored targets in free agency, one thing that stands out is that the team is reportedly on the lookout for a running back who can do all of the same things Bilal Powell does.

The contracts can't officially sign with the Jets until the free-agency period begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Prior to the start of training camp last season, Crowell chose to sign a one-year restricted free-agent tender and not miss time while trying to seek a new contract. He had a couple injury-marred seasons after that before a resurgent 2015 earned him a new deal.

Crowell has shared the backfield in Cleveland since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2014.

Doug Martin was a former first-round pick back in 2012 and broke out early in his career with 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie. Crowell averaged 4.1 yards per carry during his final season with the Browns.

Crowell played in all 16 games for the winless Browns in 2017.

In four years with the Browns, Crowell rushed for 3,118 yards and 21 touchdowns on 737 carries with 151 runs going for first downs, 23 eclipsing the 20-yard mark and six that went for at least 40 yards.

Crowell also had 96 receptions for 770 yards and one score during his National Football League career.
