The Chicago Bears announced his release and Glennon reportedly has a new two-year contract with Arizona.

Multiple reports surfaced on the mean streets of Twitter to relay the news.

The Arizona Cardinals are signing quarterback Mike Glennon, per the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

With the Cardinals intending to sign Sam Bradford, Glennon would be poised to back up Bradford.

He struggled last season after getting a three-year, $45-million contract with Chicago and was benched in favor of rookie Mitchell Trubisky.

He will be the team's veteran backup, while they are expected to draft a quarterback to groom for the next year or two.

General manager Ryan Pace had said February 28 at the NFL Combine that the team would release Glennon after the start of the league year.

Glennon led the Bears to a 1-3 record as the team's starter and threw for four touchdowns and five interceptions, while also losing three fumbles.

Wheaton appeared in 11 games last season, catching three passes for 41 yards. With the money Glennon was making, it was inevitable that the Bears would decide to simply cut him loose this offseason.
