But the defensive tackle is still very productive.

The Dolphins released defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on Wednesday, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Cowboys being interested in Suh does not make sense given their recent history in free agency.

Suh was halfway through the $114 million, six-year deal he signed when he joined the Dolphins in 2015.

Cowboys defensive tackle David Irving missed eight games last season, including the last four due to a concussion suffered in a November 30 game against Washington.

With Suh hitting the open market, the 31-year-old's name automatically started getting linked to the New England Patriots.

There was a notable drop in production this past season recording 47 total tackles and 4.5 sacks, but it shouldn't create any significant cause for concern about what he can still do at this point of his career. He was slated to earn $17 million this year, with a cap number of $26.2 million.

Suh has the ability to be a game-changing player, which should put him in line to receive another lucrative contract offer.
