Shanghai SIPG secured its place in the last 16 of the Asian Champions League on Tuesday with a goal from Brazilian striker Elkeson sealing a 1-0 win over South Korea's Ulsan Hyundai for Vitor Pereira's team.

Defeat left second-placed Ulsan level on five points with Melbourne Victory, who had Kosta Barbarouses to thank for a dramatic late 1-0 victory over Kawasaki Frontale.

Kashima is in first place in the group with eight points, while Sydney is last with only two.

Shanghai SIPG are unbeaten on 10 points at the top and guaranteed a place in the knockout stages while Kawasaki, quarter-finalists previous year, are bottom and look to be heading out with just one point.

"To be fair, I thought we had control of the second half and the persistence of this team, we're always going to get chances", Barbarouses told Fox Sports.

Unbeaten Antlers looked on their way to a third win in four matches this term when Mu Kanazaki's close-range header gave the Japanese side a 27th-minute lead.

But Sydney clung on to their dwindling hopes of qualification with 20 minutes to go when Luke Wilkshire's cross was met at the back post by the head of Matt Simon and bundled over the line.

Matt Simon cancelled out Mu Kanazaki's first-half opener to earn the A-League champions just their second point, although Suwon Bluewings' 2-0 success at Shanghai Shenhua means Group H's top two is nearly finalised.

New Zealand worldwide Barbarouses beat Jung Sung-ryong at his near post in the 90th minute to give the hosts a precious three points.

Suwon Bluewings are second, a point behind Kashima, after Dejan Damjanovic's second-half strike and Choi Sung-kuen's 88th-minute clincher gave them a 2-0 win at Shanghai Shenhua's Hongkou Stadium.

In Qatar, Xavi scored the opening goal in a 4-0 rout of Nasaf Qarshi that saw Al Sadd keep pace with Persepolis.

Meanwhile, in Group A, Tractor Sazi and Al Ahli drew 1-1 with Al Jazira and Al Gharafa respectively.
