At the end of this week's "Smackdown Live", McMahon announced that he would be taking an indefinite leave of absence from his position as Commissioner.

Since August 2017, the simmering war between Kevin Owens and SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon has dominated the landscape in a variety of forms. Triple H & Stephanie McMahonWWE Title Match: AJ Styles © vs. McMahon leaving his job will leave Daniel Bryan as the lone authority figure on "Smackdown Live" starting next week.

The two faced off in a Hell in a Cell match which saw Owens winning with the help of Zayn.

It seems that WWE indeed will not put Zayn and Owens, the latter of which actually seemed to be developing into a decent draw over the last couple of years, in a pre-show battle royal that will be viewed by significantly fewer fans than the actual WrestleMania show will be.

It's going to be interesting to see how this one unfolds as we edge closer to WrestleMania 34.

- There was no dark main event after this week's RAW in Detroit went off the air. As Shane, somewhat facetiously, insisted he'd given them each a great opportunity, it became clear that Owens and Zayn had one more thing to do collectively before going to war in New Orleans.

How do you think this story will unfold? An assisted Helluva Kick was followed by an assisted Pop-Up powerbomb.

Owens and Zayn did not stop there and took out referees who tried to stop the assault before they placed a steel chair around McMahon's neck and proceeded to smash him into the ring post. With one final act - a double powerbomb onto some kind of metal apparatus backstage, which sent McMahon into hysterics on the ground - the deed was done.

Owens and Zayn then came out and expressed their joy to see McMahon go but also made a decision to give him a brutal parting gift. There is no word on how long he will be gone or if he will be back in the role at all.
