Female crew member dies after fall from plane

The incident occurred on March 14 in Entebbe, Uganda.

The cause of the incident is unclear, however, local Kenyan media Daily Nation reported that the Bulgarian national had attempted committing suicide as she jumped off the plane with a glass bottle which she had initially attempted to stab herself with.

The woman, whose nationality has not been revealed, was rushed to Kisubi hospital 16km (10 miles) away but died soon after, a spokesperson said.

"We received her from the Civil Aviation Authority in an ambulance, but she was already dead", Sekandi said.

The incident occurred on March 14 at Entebbe International Airport as the Emirates crew prepared Flight EK730, a Boeing 777-300ER, for boarding.

The airline promised to "extend our full co-operation to the authorities in their investigation", the Dubai-based carrier said in a statement. The Emirates flight to Dubai, United Arab Emirates was delayed for roughly an hour as a result of the fall.

News agency AFP quotes a statement from Emirates Airline as saying: "A member of our cabin crew unfortunately fell from an open door while preparing the aircraft for boarding". The injured crew member was brought to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
