Explore the ancestral home of the High Elves, an all-new zone packed with adventure. For the first time in history, the long-closed borders of Summerset are open to foreigners by decree of Queen Ayrenn. The Elder Scrolls Online players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will have to wait until June 5th.

Bethesda has announced The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset, the next big expansion in the MMORPG that will transport players to Summerset Isle, home to the High Elves and setting for 1994's The Elder Scrolls: Arena. As with past expansions, Summerset also comes with a bunch of new content, including a story, an order, a new skill set, and jewelry crafting.

Bethesda sent out "Save the Dates" for this year's E3, which could mean the next Elder Scrolls game.

If you're new to ESO, you can jump into Summerset without having played the rest of the game; a tutorial and starter area will bring you up to speed. The PvE content is largely structured around Summerset dealing with an invasion of Daedra forces - a story which began in 2015 with the Orsinium DLC, and will conclude with Summerset. There's also a new order to join, called the Psijic Order, and a new skill line based on the magic of the Psijic Order.

"If you had The Elder Scrolls Online down as another MMO turkey, think again".

For players who are keen to get back into the game before Summerset launches, or who maybe want to reignite their progress, beginning today, they can play the base game for free for a limited time.

As a lead up to the release of Elder Scroll Online: Summerset, Bethesda is offering a free to play week for all interested adventures which starts today on Mac/PC and PS4 and tomorrow on Xbox One. For more information and get in on this week of Free to Play check out their Bethesda's official post.

We've had hands-on with Summerset, and you can expect our impressions to go live on April 3.
