Hanuman Jayanti being celebrated with religious fervour

The West Bengal government has directed the state police to send additional forces to the troubled area in order to prevent any violence on Hanuman Jayanti on Saturday. In most Indian states the festival is celebrated on Chaitra Pournima while in some states it is celebrated in the month of Vaishakha or Margashirsha. It was Hanuman's devotion to Lord Ram that helped him defeat Ravana after Sita's abduction.
