Police are responding to YouTube's San Bruno, California, headquarters amid reports of a possible active shooter.

San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini initially told reporters Tuesday that four people were wounded.

Four victims were taken to area hospitals with injuries, which Barberini said were "treatable".

The White House said President Donald Trump was briefed on a shooting and that officials were monitoring it. Andre Campbell, a trauma surgeon who treated the victims at the hospital, said the shooting was another "sad day" for America.

Brooklyn and Bailey shared, "Our hearts go to those in the @YouTube space in San Bruno. First thought was quake", Todd Sherman tweeted. "Thank you to our phenomenal Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders that are now on the scene", he wrote. He wrote, "Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody involved".

Several YouTube employees sent tweets Tuesday afternoon, saying people were racing out of the company's Cherry Avenue offices shortly after 1 p.m.

"Customers said they heard what could have been gunshots when they were on their way here", Natalie Mangiante, an employee at Big Mouth Burgers located near the YouTube building, said by phone. "And people screaming", said the employee, who was in a building down the street.

Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital spokesperson Brent Andrew told a local ABC affiliate that the hospital is treating a 36-year-old male in critical condition, a 32-year-old female in serious condition, and a 27-year-old female in fair condition.

"It was a surprise, because you don't really expect something like that", the man told CNN affiliate KPIX. Officers found one person wounded outside and just a few minutes later they found a second individual, deceased, with what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds. Each person was being frisked by a police officer, apparently to make sure that no one posed a threat.

He said the public can access the courtyard where he saw the shooter during work hours.

Lavrusik is in product development at YouTube, is founder of Frisbeechat, was a product manager at Facebook (Live & Facebook Mentions), and worked with the New York Times and Mashable, according to his Twitter profile.

Google's official communications Twitter account said that it is "coordinating with authorities" in a recent Tweet.

According to various reports, multiple individuals are being taken to area hospitals following the shooting incident at YouTube headquarters.

Police were in force in and around the company's headquarters, with much of the attention said to be centered on the complex's cafeteria area.

Calls and emails to YouTube representatives seeking comment were not immediately returned.
