AMD plans on continuing its streak with the launch of the 2nd Generation Ryzen CPUs aimed at consumer market.

AMD recently unveiled its new Ryzen 2000 desktop processors, which are now available for pre-order in South Africa.

These chips are based on AMD's 12nm Zen+ architecture.

The Ryzen 7 2700X boasts a slightly increased base clock and boost clock speed. According to a report from Kotaku, the top-of-the-line Ryzen 7 2700X will include a "Prism LED" cooler, which comes with a multi-colored LED backlight.

Okay sure, you're going to have to start sloshing around liquid nitrogen to be able to get the Ryzen 7 2700X and Ryzen 5 2600X chips to top 5.8GHz, but that's still a pretty good start for AMD's second generation Ryzen processors. The Ryzen 7 2700 has similar Core/thread combo but with a lower clock speed and hence a lower TDP of 65W. The 2700 model will come with single-color Spire LED cooler, while the 2600X and 2600 will come with regular "Wraith" coolers. The particular CPU is a direct competitor to Intel's Core i5-8500. It's also worth noting that AMD is also giving a free "Wraith" cooler with every CPU.

Additionally AMD has also launched their new X470 chipset motherboards which use the same AM4 mount as the previous gen X370 boards. Existing 300 series boards will be compatible with the new CPUs with a simple firmware upgrade in the BIOS.

The Ryzen 7 2700X is priced at United States dollars 329 (INR 21,452), whereas the Ryzen 7 2700 is priced at USD 299 (INR 19,496). The 2600X and 2600 in the Ryzen 5 range are priced at United States dollars 229 (INR 14,932) USD 199 (INR 12,975), respectively.
