Sony's phones are also known for the impressive audio output, and the XZ2 Premium is no exception. We're eager to see how this phone compares not just to the rest of Sony's XZ2 lineup but other leading smartphones. Now, the Japanese technology major has silently added another smartphone to the lineup in the form of Xperia XZ2 Premium.

Last year, Sony made big waves with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. Sony calls it "Loop Design", giving you a curved rear panel that seamlessly wraps around the phone for a seamless finish. It's larger in all dimensions.

The build quality is the same as the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium has the same 3D glass on the rear and aluminum frame as the XZ2. The regular XZ2 has an 18:9 display. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!

The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium will come in black or silver colours. As we mentioned, it also switches the aspect back to 16:9, but there's a seemingly good reason for those. The display is touted to be 11% larger and 30% brighter than the 4K HDR display used on the Xperia XZ2.

Pricing also hasn't been revealed but, assuming it ships to the USA, we'd expect it to be a fair whack more expensive - think up to $1000 and at least $900, compared to the XZ2's $800 unlocked asking price in the States.

Both these displays are Trilumios HDR displays with X-Reality enhancement to upscale your content for better visuals. The device is backed by a 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 400GB via micro SD card. It ships with a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter in the box. However, both also support Qi wireless charging.

There's a big difference in the battery capacity too.

With the Motion Eye™ Dual camera you can also express your artistic side. It also features the same Super Slo-Mo capability of capturing 960fps video at HD resolutions found in previous Sony flagship phones. The front camera, however, is a 13MP shooter with F2.0 aperture. This will give the XZ2 Premium more light when shooting in darker conditions. This is a 12-megapixel sensor with 1.55µm pixels and paired with an f/1.6 lens. Featuring S-Force Front Surround, they're our loudest Xperia speakers ever. "For the front, there is a 13-megapixel 1/ 3,06" Exmor RS sensor with 22mm wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture.

A dual-camera setup isn't exactly revolutionary these days, so where Sony says it's differentiating the XZ2 Premium is by offering a maximum 51,2000 ISO level for still images, and 12,800 ISO for videos, with a view to being the ultimate low-light phone. To be fair, the Xperia XZ2 camera isn't the best around, so the Premium has plenty to prove. The device will be available single and dual-SIM variants.

There's been no word on what the Xperia XZ2 Premium might cost.

Availability is slated for summer 2018, but we don't know when pre-orders will open.

Starting off with the design, Sony has tried to keep the design similar to the Xperia XZ2 that launched this year at MWC. The smartphone also boasts a 4K HDR Triluminos display with an IPS 65/68 certification for water and dust resistivity. While the Xperia XZ2 is reasonably priced alongside competition, the XZ2 Premium will have to ensure it doesn't become a handset no one can afford to buy.
