After getting shutout last Thursday in Minnesota, the same thing almost happened to the White Sox, who weren't able to scratch out a run until the ninth inning. The offense for the A's came off the bat of Jed Lowrie, who hit a two-run homer just three batters into the game. The Athletics jersey, designed that season to celebrate their first in their new city, reads "OAKLAND" arched across the front in a green and gold Olde-English styled font (oh please, oh please have your coaches wearing white caps for the game).

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - After more than two years of trying, Oakland pitcher Daniel Mengden finally got his first career win at the Coliseum. Each pitcher will be looking for their first victories of the season.

The Chicago White Sox haven't played a game since last Thursday as their last three games were postponed due to inclement weather.

"I was just trying to stay warm against the cold and just stay with the routine and pound the zone", Mengden said. "Second time through we said we were going to go backwards and throw them off a little bit and it ended up working really well".

Chicago has posted 17.4 Runs + Hits + Errors per game over its last 10 outings and 13.8 over its last five.

Normally a team won't have three extra days off in a row unless it is the all-star break, but the Chicago White Sox just had three games in a row against the Twins rained out. "We had a lot of things going on that were not common to our club". "It has nothing to do with anything other than we had a bad game out there in the field". However, Gonzalez has been rocked this season in 9.1 innings, allowing 16 hits and nine earned runs on a.364 batting average.

The White Sox will be in powder blue (!), "Chicago" scripted across the front in navy blue with "WHITE SOX" in white in the underscore, a white/blue/white trim around the neck only. That was just Chicago's sixth hit. The White Sox have allowed 13 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last eight games.

"A lot similar to what we saw at the end of past year", A's manager Bob Melvin said.

Compared to his overall season slash line of.234/.313/.472, Chapman performed well against righties at home previous year, slashing.308/.373/.598 over 118 such plate appearances.

Olson homered on starter Reynaldo Lopez's first pitch of the fourth.

Lowrie had an RBI groundout in the seventh and a two-run single in the eighth. An inning earlier, the A's turned a 5-3-6 double play. It was the fourth time this year the A's have attracted fewer than 10,000, although it didn't help that the defending National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors were playing Game 2 of their Western Conference playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs at the same time next door at Oracle Arena.

Admission to the game tomorrow is actually free, although all the tickets were gobbled up months ago. Vouchers were previously given out online, and no walkups are available.

The A's got to Lopez for a second run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-out, run-scoring double by Davis that struck the center field fence on a fly. Kevan Smith began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte.

White Sox: RHP Miguel Gonzalez (0-2, 8.68 ERA) starts Tuesday night seeking his first win in seven career starts against Oakland.
