ASUS and Flipkart announce long-term strategic partnership for India

Indian e-tailer Flipkart made its "big" announcement today which was nothing but a partnership with Asus to manufacture products under what the Taiwanese company termed the "Made for India" initiative. The first product from the alliance will be the Zenfone Max Pro which will be launched on April 23 at 12:30 PM. As part of the memorandum signed between the two companies, Flipkart will soon be showcasing a slew of the upcoming smartphone from Asus, the first of which will be the Zenfone Max Pro.

Flipkart will be the primary sales channel for ASUS ZenFones as part of the deal. Not a lot is known about its hardware for now. This will also be the global unveiling of the ZenFone Max Pro model and the event will be streamed live on

Asus is all set to launch a new Zenfone Max Pro smartphone in India on April 23 which will be exclusive to Flipkart.

Once launched, the Zenfone Max Pro will be pitched against the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, which also houses the same CPU.

The e-commerce player, which competes with the Seattle-based Amazon, says one out of four mobile phones bought in India were from Flipkart a year ago. But there's more to its new partnership with Asus than what meets the eye. Under its "Mobile 40 by 20" vision, Flipkart aims to capture 40 per cent of overall market share by 2020. That would be about 100 million new buyers.

"As a core pillar of our consumer centric strategy in India, we see tremendous opportunity in creating products and services that address India's special market needs". We expect to gain more insights about Indian consumers with Flipkart's partnership.

The partnership with Flipkart is one of the major steps in a series of other strategic efforts by ASUS to deepen its commitment to the Indian market and consumers to further fuel the company's growth, and strengthen its position in the market. Flipkart's unparalleled distribution reach and marketing strengths will help Asus build strong awareness for our innovative high-value products and reach consumers across India.

Currently, Flipkart has a 25 per cent market share of all online smartphone sales in India.
